Between Wine and Blood was originally conceived as a live album featuring tracks from it's predecessor Between Dog and Wolf and recorded on the BDAW Tour. There were also a couple of unfinished tracks from the BDAW sessions. But once we had started making it, songs began to miraculously form and it ended up as half a mini-album of brand new material and a second mini-album of the live tracks. Like it's predecessor, it was largely self-produced but it also marked the beginning of our relationship with Lee Smith and Jamie Lockhart with whom we recorded Winter and From Here. Like BDAW, it was mixed in Los Angeles by the formidable Joe Barresi.
