Navigating By the Stars (2003)
This is Justin's long promised first solo album. Hooking up with film and TV music producer, Ty Unwin, the first week of working coincided with ‘9/11'. Rather than making a political or angry response to unfolding events, the album's purpose was to ‘make something beautiful in an increasingly ugly World'. Focussing on Justin’s love of the sea, the album has a contemplative and timeless feel with extensive orchestration and amazing performances by
legendary double-bassist, Danny Thompson. It was rereleased in 2021 with two added tracks Sooner or Later (originally a B-side) and the Wreck of the Essex, another maritime story song, which had been written and recorded shortly after the release of the album in 2003.
Double-VINYL version of Justin Sullivan’s first solo album from 2003 Navigating by the Stars, never previously available on vinyl. The audio of this new version has not been altered but carries two additional tracks. These are: ‘Sooner or Later’, which first appeared on a B-side in 2003, and ‘The Wreck of The Essex’, a song written and recorded later that same year that has laid dormant ever since but for a few live performances.
